A ROVING GAZE   Inside the dense architecture of the woods, surrounded by its abundant plantlife in varying stages of life and decay, I find myself easily confounded and overwhelmed by everything I am taking in. It becomes hard to focus on just one thing inside this busy disorganized world. My eyes are constantly shifting inside the space, touching on various points of interest. I often feel my roving gaze building its own cadence and energy. These paintings are attempts to describe that sensation.
